New 'Quality Label' label for Infrared panels developed by EIHA and Binnenklimaattechniek Foundation in collaboration with Peutz
March 5, 2024The European Infrared Heating Alliance (EIHA) and the Binnenklimaattechniek Foundation have developed the Quality Label Infrared in collaboration with engineering firm Peutz. This label is a significant advance in the standardization of electric infrared heating, aimed at ensuring quality and reliability.
Energy performance radiant panels in accordance with IEC 60675-3
Infrared heating is increasingly used in the sustainability of the built environment. A wide variety of infrared panels are available to consumers and professionals through various channels. It often happens that the certifications of different products are unclear. Moreover, it is not always clear whether these products actually function as infrared heating. Infrared panels must be able to contribute to a comfortable indoor environment with radiant heat. This is only possible if a minimum proportion of the energy entering the panel is converted into radiant heat. The test method for this is defined in the standard IEC 60675-3:2020. This crucial standard also provides an important lower limit for radiant efficiency, which is one of the "Quality Label" criteria. Panels with the Quality Label have been tested according to this standard, meet this lower limit and may therefore officially be called infrared radiant panels.
Quality Label requirements are:
1. Tested according to IEC60675-3 and meets minimum radiation content to be defined as infrared
2. Possesses CE certification
3. Production process is audited by accredited institute
4. EcoDesign Efficiency Factor >38%
European Hallmark, International Cooperation
The Quality Label is an initiative of the European Infrared Heating Alliance (EIHA) and is open to its members. This is the European umbrella organization of industry associations IG Infrared Benelux, IG Infrared Germany, IG Infrared Austria and companies spread throughout Europe. For management and maintenance of the label, EIHA has a partnership with the Binnenklimaattechniek Foundation. This foundation manages various labels for the building technology sector, such as the Indoor Climate Label and Ventilation Label. Applications for the label will be substantively reviewed by engineering firm Peutz, which also developed the assessment criteria. Peutz is one of the first European institutes where infrared panels can be tested according to IEC 60675-3.
Launch
The label will be officially launched in April 2024, during an industry conference in Würzburg, Germany. Want to know more? Get in touch with info@binnenklimaattechniek.nl
