Inleiding

Indoor climate contributes to the functioning, comfort and health of building users. For example, healthy indoor air quality can minimise health complaints around respiratory failure. Or consider adapting the thermal indoor climate to the user for thermal comfort.

Clients of long-term care organisations generally spend a lot of time indoors and have different indoor climate needs than an average healthy adult person due to physical and/or mental disabilities. For example, vulnerable target groups, such as the elderly, prefer higher indoor temperatures on average.

The Programme of Requirements for the Indoor Climate of Long-Term Care Buildings is a guide to setting requirements for the indoor climate in long-term care buildings that are tailored as closely as possible to the primary users: the residents and the care staff. It focuses on the following topics: indoor air quality, thermal indoor climate and installation noise. The performance requirements set out in the publication apply to both existing and new buildings.
