Register CO₂-meters

Over the past year, ventilation in many school buildings has further improved. More than 1,400 schools have sought assistance from the ventilation support team, and CO₂ meters have been installed in thousands of classrooms. A recent survey shows that approximately 60% of classrooms now have a functioning CO₂ meter. However, this also means that in 40% of cases, for various reasons, this is not yet the case. To ensure continuous monitoring of ventilation, the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education has announced that CO₂ meters will become mandatory in every classroom.

With hundreds of CO₂ meters available, ordering one is easy—but how do you choose the right one? As a school board, how can you determine which CO₂ meter best fits your needs? To help navigate the overwhelming selection, this page offers a comprehensive guide with additional information for school boards, municipalities, and other interested parties.

All CO₂ meters listed in this register must meet specific requirements. Upon registration, suppliers must declare that their meters comply with the established criteria*. Schools selecting a CO₂ meter from this register can be assured that it meets at least the minimum requirements set by the Buildings Decree.

Important information

Teachers and students in the classroom exhale carbon dioxide (CO₂). The level of CO₂ in indoor air is easy to measure and serves as an initial indicator of air exchange quality. A CO₂ meter uses a display and a traffic light system to indicate whether CO₂ concentration is high, moderate, or low. The primary focus is not the CO₂ itself, but rather the effectiveness of air exchange within the room. When CO₂ levels rise, teachers or students can take timely action by increasing ventilation or temporarily airing out the space.

Registration in the CO₂ meter register is based on suppliers and their products meeting a set of requirements, which are largely derived from the Buildings Decree. Upon registration, the supplier must declare that both they and their product comply with each requirement. After answering all questions regarding compliance, the supplier must confirm that the responses have been provided truthfully. The register operates on the principle of trust in the accuracy of these declarations. Therefore, the foundation managing the register cannot guarantee the correctness of the provided information. By using the register as a source of information on suitable CO₂ meters, the user acknowledges that the foundation does not verify the accuracy of the declarations and that neither the foundation nor any associated organizations or individuals can be held liable for any damages resulting from the unsuitability of registered CO₂ meters, whether due to non-compliance with any requirement or otherwise.

The foundation welcomes well-substantiated and documented complaints regarding the registration of suppliers and products. In such cases, the foundation will assess the situation at its own discretion and decide on any necessary measures. By using the register as an information source on suitable CO₂ meters, the user acknowledges that the foundation may, for its own reasons, choose not to take action or to implement measures different from those requested by the complainant.
