Binnenklimaattechniek Foundation launches Program of Requirements Healthy Indoor Climate Long-Term Care
April 3, 2024The Program of Requirements (PoR) Healthy Indoor Climate for Long-Term Care, launched by the Binnenklimaattechniek Foundation, is a milestone in improving the living environment for clients and employees in long-term care. During the Gezond Binnen Congres on Thursday, March 28, Remi Hompe, chairman of the Binnenklimaattechniek Foundation, handed the first copy to Cees van Boven, chairman of the board of Woonzorg Nederland.
The PvE Healthy Indoor Climate for Long-Term Care represents an important step forward in improving the living environment for clients and staff within the long-term care sector. This initiative highlights the importance of an appropriate indoor climate that meets the specific needs of a particularly vulnerable group of people who spend significantly more time indoors than the average person. The PoA serves as a guide for setting adequate indoor climate requirements, contributing to improved health, comfort, and overall well-being of both clients and care staff.
Until now, there were no specific guidelines for indoor climate in long-term care. The PoA provides for the first time clear and specific criteria in this sector. This is of great value to healthcare facilities, healthcare property owners, contractors, and installers facing the challenges of preservation, renovation, or new construction in this sector. By providing these targeted guidelines, the PoA not only facilitates better quality control and management of indoor climate but also directly promotes client and care staff satisfaction and well-being. This highlights the importance of the EoI within the healthcare sector, with a positive impact on the quality of life of a group of vulnerable people.
The PoE Healthy Indoor Climate Long-Term Care is the result of a collaboration between Binnenklimaat Nederland, TVVL and Gezond Binnen. The publication builds on previous initiatives aimed at healthy living and working environments such as the PoE Healthy Offices and the PoE Healthy Homes. This emphasizes the broader commitment to creating healthy indoor environments for all facets of society. With the publication of this report, the Binnenklimaattechniek Foundation provides an accessible source of expertise essential to promoting healthier, more comfortable and sustainable indoor environments in long-term care.
