Indoor climate contributes to the functioning, comfort and health of building occupants. For example, healthy indoor air quality can minimize health issues around respiratory failure. Or consider adapting the thermal indoor climate to the user for thermal comfort.

Clients of long-term care organizations generally spend a lot of time indoors and, because of physical and/or mental limitations, have different indoor climate needs than an average healthy adult. For example, vulnerable target groups, such as the elderly, on average prefer higher indoor temperatures.

The Program of Requirements for Indoor Climate in Long-Term Care is a guide to setting requirements for the indoor climate in buildings for long-term care that are tailored as much as possible to the primary users: the residents and the care staff. It focuses on the following themes: indoor air quality, thermal indoor climate and installation noise. The stated performance requirements in the publication apply to both existing buildings and new construction.
