What is air distribution?
Air distribution refers to the process of distributing fresh air throughout a space using supply grilles located in the floor, walls, and/or ceiling. It is crucial that fresh air is introduced into the room without creating draughts.
Fresh air can be supplied to the room through displacement or mixing. The comfort zone, also referred to as the occupied zone, must be identified in the space. For office environments, it is essential to comply with at least NEN-EN-ISO 7730 Class B standards. The placement of supply grilles should ensure even air circulation throughout the room, avoiding dead zones.
How does air distribution work?
The flow of fresh air in a room depends on the supply point, temperature differences, and the induction effect of the grille. Fresh air introduced through the grille induces ambient air (induction), which reduces the velocity while increasing the mass of the moving air.
Ducts transport the air between the central air handling unit and the supply grilles. Professionals must ensure the issuance of a LUKA system certificate with components certified to meet airtightness Class C.
