What is an air curtain?
An air curtain is a ventilation system that separates rooms with different climates. It increases comfort while being a natural insect screen. It blocks dust, leaves and street debris from outside. It also prevents harmful air from entering and saves energy.
In the summer, it keeps cool air in and, conversely, outside in the winter. It is economical if the door is opened more than 4 times or if the temperature difference exceeds 4º Celsius.
How does an air curtain work?
An air curtain consists of a fan, heat exchanger and discharge grille. The warm air is sucked in and then blown downward. This creates an invisible door separating the indoor and outdoor climates.
In the upper part of the doorway, heat goes out and in the lower part, cold air flows in. To prevent cold drafts and warm up the air, the air flow should be felt down to the floor.
The best result
An air curtain works best when mounted against or directly above a doorway. This prevents energy loss, for example. Make sure the distance of the air curtain from the floor is small and the air stream is at least the width of the doorway.
There are several factors to consider when buying: choose a model that is suitable for the space and pay attention to power, size and add-in or add-out options. Be well advised in advance by one of the experts below.
Current legislation
Various air technology devices are eligible for the Energy investment allowance (EIA).. With this deduction, the tax authorities help pay for the purchase of air technology equipment in your company. This includes, for example, an air curtain for conditioned transport.
Maintenance
Clean the grilles in the air curtain regularly. While doing so, make sure that the unit can suck in and blow out freely. Make sure the air curtain is functioning optimally, check it regularly and test it for energy efficiency.
Tools
Two practical tools are available for air curtains. The operation and energy efficiency of an air curtain stands or falls with the installation. With the air curtain entrance check it is possible to assess both new and existing installations.
With these results, you can ensure that your air curtain is optimized. Using the savings meter, you can calculate how much you can save with an air curtain.
