Indicator Probabilities of contamination
The calculation tool Aerosol Contamination Probability Indicator calculates the influence of ventilation rate on the probability of contamination in indoor spaces, such as offices, schools, restaurants, nursing homes and stores. The tool assumes that all other applicable measures against the coronavirus and/or other virus variants currently in play from the national government be monitored. The indicator is based on the Wells-Riley model. This model is based on the premise that, when simultaneously in a room with one infectious person, a virus is spread evenly through the room via exhalation and is also evenly diluted via ventilation. The goal is to provide a course of action to reduce the probability of infection. The calculation tool can also contribute to the public discussion on the influence and importance of ventilation and the transmission of infectious diseases in indoor spaces. The tool was developed during the COVID-19 period to provide easy insight.
